Photographing Johnny

As a former paparazzi, I have encountered Johnny many times in person. Those of you who have met him know how good he is with fans. Many of the celebrities I have worked with are good with members of the press because they feel they have to be, but then sort of brush off fans. Johnny is great with fans. He will sign and pose for photos willingly. I remember at the first mouseketeer reunion, I was basically there to photograph Annette. It was a nice surprise to see so many of the others there. Johnny was great in making sure that I got photos of him with Annette, then told me about a project he was working on at the time. It later turned out to be that swing band he was involved in. His excite- ment in the project showed and I wished him luck with it as we parted. Later on I began to see local ads for his band as they started making personal appearances in the Los Angeles area. Years later he appeared at the Gene Autry Museum on a Sunday afternoon and drew a nice crowd of fans. Nice to see the interest in him has survived the test of time.
